Coronavirus: Look for the Positive

Updated: Mar 27, 2020

Right now we are being bombarded with a significant amount of information & probably some not so accurate information about corona virus. There is so much already floating out there, I think to myself, who am I to add to this, & at the same time I look for ways I can help. So, as I've had many ask what am I personally doing to protect myself, I thought it worthwhile to share, which I will do over the next few days.

The first and foremost is caring for my state of mind, staying positive and addressing my fear.

Staying positive & focusing on what I CAN do & not what I can't do.
I'm sure you've heard the saying that where you place your attention is where you place your energy.

Placing my attention on what I can do gives me momentum, even if it's one step at a time. Placing my attention on things I cannot control like not being able to source toilet paper, not being able to start work at an awesome studio as planned, and so on, only brings a negative and stagnate state of mind.

Of course what's going on has serious implications for many of our livelihoods. Keeping a positive state of mind is important to staying healthy as a negative state directly impacts your emotional and physical health.

In keeping a healthy state of mind, I also do not spend hours or get caught up in the 'news', and social media around the virus. I stay informed by reading the headlines in key email updates like NPR, then I get on with life, I switch off all the madness.

I do pay attention to the creative humor, gotta keep it light. :-)

I am about balance, so planning is important, but as said before, do what you can, with what you have, be flexible, adjust.

Is there worry and fear, of course, these are normal reactions to unprecedented and uncertain times. I'll talk more about this in the next post.

I also know this will pass, and we will get through it.

What are you doing to stay positive?

Care for your mind, body & soul and wash your hands regularly.
