As I’m currently in Singapore I can’t help but to call out two books I picked up at the Singapore airport a couple of years ago.
#1: That’s How it Goes: The Way of the 90-Year Life Journey of a Singapore Eurasian [autobiography of a Singapore Eurasian] F.A.C. “Jock” Oehlers
This book provides a historical view before and after World War II of Singapore and it progress.
#2: Raffles and the British Invasion of Java by Tim Hannigan
Incredible insights to Raffles. Although he is well known and looked upon prestigiously as the founder of Singapore, this book tells another story about his shocking and appalling treatment and personality in invading Java.
